rived Saturday February 9, 2008. She is an English Springer Spaniel. We bought her from Jennifer and John Hafner in Dutchess County NY. We picked her out a month ago but there was a period of time where we were unsure if the co-owner was going to choose Juno, then named Jesse.
On the way home Sandy and Juno did puppy aerobics and puppy juggling depending on whose point of view. Both ladies slept quite a bit on the trip.
Sleeping at night has been a big issue as has house training. We are trying to do our best to take Juno out as often as possible. The cold weather and our inexperience has been tough on all of us. The books I've read tell me to say a catch phrase as she goes to the bathroom. I've chosen "Go pee" and when she is done I give her a treat. Unfortunately, she is so smart that as soon as I say the magic phrase she stops going to the bathroom and comes over for a treat! This lead to a couple of accidents tonight. Also, Juno doesn't need to do a #2 after dinner. I took her out at least 3 times. She #1's just fine but no #2. Pretty frustrating when it is 14deg F and snowing outside!
Sandy once did 8 laps around the house with no success.
The first few nights we used a box for Juno to sleep in. Then we used a taller box. She escaped from both confines. After discussions with Jennifer Juno is sleeping in the crate. If I hear her crying at night I do take her out. Last night she did both #1 & #2. Great success!
Hopefully, tomorrow I can make a video of her box escapades.
